St. Mark's Montessori School
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Managing 20 to 30 children.
2. Directing one or two assistants.
3. Keeping daily attendance record of children.
4. Developing and maintaining a professional relationship with the parents,
maintaining professional conduct at all times. Maintaining strict confidentiality
regarding children and their families.
5. Bringing any suspected developmental issues, such as speech or fine/gross
motor skills, or concentration problems, etc., to the teacher’s attention, not the
parents’. Refer any parental concerns to the child’s teacher rather than discussing
them with the parents.
6. Working with children in a manner consistent with the educational principles
set down by the Association Montessori Internationale and with the philosophy and
goals of St. Mark’s Montessori School (such as treating each child with respect,
encouraging children to take responsibility for their choices and to solve problems
independently, etc.)
7. Being responsible for upkeep of all materials and equipment in the BAC room
by cleaning and/or removing equipment needing repair or replacement. Sheets for
the cots need to be washed weekly. Any equipment repairs, replacements, or
maintenance in the BAC room or on the playground should be reported to the
Director. Conducting routine inspections of the playground equipment as
prescribed by the Director.
8. Being responsible for the environment in the BAC room, including its
arrangement and décor, in accordance with Montessori standards.
9. Attending all staff meetings and events sponsored by the school.
10. Updating skills by attending workshops or otherwise getting continuous
Maintaining records/files required by the school, including children’s
emergency contacts, allergy list, etc.
12. Securing all doors, windows, and equipment before leaving each evening. This
includes locking the storage room, checking the Nursery and classroom doors,
turning off the coffee pot, turning off all lights, locking all windows in the BAC room,
and locking BAC and outside doors.
13. Completing MAT training and being able to receive and administer medicines,
epipen, nebulizer, etc.
14. Handling any school emergencies, making decisions after Director has left the
building, including but not limited to: weather emergencies, lockdown situations,
fire emergencies, playground emergencies, child health emergencies such as
seizures, allergic reactions, etc.
15. Becoming familiar with licensing rules and regulations and making sure BAC is in
compliance.
